Old City, the most historical section of Philadelphia, is where my studio (Church Street Studios) is located. This is one of my favorite background venues to shoot in, especially for fashion couture and weddings. The architecture is amazing, full of detail; old stone walls and cobblestone streets abound everywhere. The color of the trees in autumn with the light passing through the leaves, bouncing off the walls, and streets, makes natural light a dream to work with.
My models were actually a couple whose wedding I photographed a month prior to this photo session. I really enjoyed working with Jen and Dawn. They are so natural on camera and follow direction extremely well.
I especially love to capture candid little moments when their true thoughts and emotions are revealed sporadically throughout the session. For example, I grabbed the shot of Jen sitting on the steps while she was waiting for a cue to head back to the studio to be able to change into regular clothes. Jen never wears a dress, so this was a rare
moment in time to capture for family and friends. Jen’s family pressed how much they wanted many photos of Jen in her wedding gown or for that matter “In a dress”. I must say I love her white suit as well. The color pallet was white and yellow throughout the entire session. Most weddings have a color theme throughout the day with the flowers, the decor in the reception room, and the accessories. During the photo shoot, I made an added effort to keep this photo session organized with a theme that made sense to set the mood and tonality.
